Uitenhage Track Resurrection.

Hi all. Plans are in the pipeline to get Uitenhage track into a race condition again. Any comments are welcome , will post all info here

So how long do u think it will be to get to your first race and how many members have you maneged to get

Thanks DJ and Bossman. Still putting the word out , i know numbers won't be a problem. My imeadiate aim is to get the track race ready, any and all info is welcome. Don't have an opening day yet , Diaz will be first to know .

Now that brings back alot of memories and i am sure it will create a whole lot of new ones !!! Will be meeting up with Francois later in the week , and also getting some flyers up. Will keep all posted as to how it goes .

Jip Raider . There were some heated races , and great having family and friends around . Hopefully it will be the same again . Prep and practice was my favorite , arrived early and swept track .

Which short " Insert word of choice " ? I think i am also in a pic , but any how , they were great days. Just hope there be enough people who follow through with racing there and not just race for a season and then disappear.

If the price is right and the organisation there, you'll have plenty followers. Just remember to set your race calendar to alternate weekends to diaz's race days.

Alternate race days has already been laid down as a Law/Rule. I don't want the Diaz guys/gals or the Uitenhage guys/gals getting upset. What i am really after is the happiness and fun that all had there. Uitenhage youth and some older , need a short/sharp/hard kick up the exhaust. But we will get there, just time and patience .

So are u guys playing on th track yet or still in preping stages

Hi Bossman, no playing yet. Preping the next thing to be done. I am seeing Francois hopefully this week. The track has fallen into a bad state, got a feeling that we will have to resurface, especially with some guys/gals running as low as 3-4mm. But hey, big thing is, there will be another track !!! More racing, more track time, more tuning for Nats etc.

A resurface will definately be on the cards for uitenhage, that was one of our bigger dilemnas in fixing up the track to it's former glory, but I think if you go with the same sort of topping used at diaz, maybe a bit thicker to level out the surface, you'll have an excellent track again. It worked excellently in fixing the cracks at diaz, and those courts were, lets just say politely, klaaaaar!!! Also maybe relay all the curbing as that was also pretty much cracked beyond repair. There's plenty to do, but I'm sure you guys will succeed in producing a fine facility.

@Mark - there is a section for URCCC here: http://oneten.co.za/viewforum.php?f=63 where you can generate some more exposure for you guys. I know quite a few of the onetenners attended the nat held at urccc and have fond memories of racing there.

Thanks DJ . Will join in . I want to test the water on an idea . What are the feelings on a loan system ? We use in our train club . The idea is that we all sponser some old redundent part-spares that are useable . Sort of like a lot of bashers that noobs race with .

It's a good idea, at our club here in CT we have an M03 ready to race for first timers, and we're putting a TT together as well for stock TT for them to try out. It is working very well, we've already got 3 newbs who bought minis, 4 bought f103's, 6 bought TT's, so if you can get a few chassis for newbs to try out, your club can only grow from there.

Cool DJ . Now just to get Uitenhage up and running . Also an off road track ! We had rain this wkend , an extra track would be great now . But all in good time .

Hi all , update time. Was up at track yesterday (Sunday), walked the track. Lot of cracking and weeds . Ran my t maxx and could not see it on the back straight . Alot of hard work ahead of me there !!
