Re:Notice Board
Last thursday nite we had our AGM and the decission was made that the TT01 rules remain the same as last year,we also mentioned the success of the "Coastal Cup Event" we had earlier the year.
I received a request from TRCCC regarding the next "Coastal Cup 2011", May I suggest that when we run the next Coastal Cup in the TT01 class, that we can allow Lipos and possibly the 25:55 gearing, I just feel that the this would take out the pressured option of borrowing batteries. Also your track is so fast and flowing that the TT01 racing will be more entertaining and far better to drive in..
I've contacted the commitee, and could not get a definite answer so lets debate it and see what does it leads too......
The Coastal Cup Event does not count to pointslog of DRCCC race season.
Raise your opinions, especially the current TT01 racers, would like your comments.

TT)!
I feel that all racers want to go faster. A given fact is also that not everyone can afford another car or upgrade to a other class. Seeing that the Cape guys have gone this route indicates that it's working and thus something we can try. The cost of a pinion and spur gear is relatively cheap. Concerning the use of Lipo batteries, well why are we not allowing these guys to run with the latest technology? There are 1800 Lipo batterries available if we really want to have them running small batterries.
I am not running a TT01, but if I wanted to these are the negatives that will make me not to run it.

Re: Notice Board
I think the smallest lipos our guys are running is about 3200's, they not going to go out and buy 1800 nimh or lipos, they'll have to borrow again.

Re: Notice Board
The 3200 and 3600 Lipo's are sort of the norm for most of the classes like the mini-class. There will also not be any performance difference between the 3200and the 3600. With the 3600 we ran 15 minutes and there was stil a 1000mah left in the batterry so there is almost no need to charge the batterry on raceday.

Re:Notice Board
A comment received from TRCCC:
I will be honest with you guys: If I was a memeber of DRCCC I would not particpate in this class if the rules where as is currently...To me after experiencing your awesome track and after racing in faster classes, Racing a TT-01 with a 58/25 gearing and a 1800 battery was like watching paint dry! I dont know if it was the batteries or what? But on the practice day (Saturday) some of the TRCCC guys were still geared at 25/55 and Ty and myself were geared at 58\25 and we were all running lipo's...boy did we have a fat jol! switching places every corner, etc, etc. I personnally would max the gearing out at 55/25 and open up on battery size, maybe cap it at 3300 or something?
THen again thats my 2cents worth... but since it is only a Coastal Cup Event and not a DRCCC points event then why not combine TRCCC Stock TTo1 rules with DRCCC TT 01 rules? Im sure lots of members at DRCCC would like to race thier TT01's with faster gearing and bigger battery even if its only for one FUN event.?
Thanks

Re: Notice Board
we have been here and done this all before, remember tt01 mod class.
ether create a tt01 mod class or move to clubstock but leave tt01 as is, there are too many new guys in it that cant handle a faster car at the moment, they just going to break cars and leave the hobby disappointed
just my 2cents

Re: Notice Board
Guys...
The suggestion that I made is only directed at the next Coastal Cup event. We are in no way implying that you should restructure your current TT rules, its not our place to interfere, if it works well for your club then cool.
We would just like to see if its possible at the next CC event that we could make the changes to allow TRCCC members to enter with ease. They wont need to buy a new battery and they would love to run a slightly faster set up.
The ratio isn't that important, really, we all have the 58t spur, and the racing will be just as good but the battery can become a bit of a pain??
Lets allow Lipos in all for CC events

Re: Notice Board
Why is it the guys that aren't racing in TT are the ones giving negative comments? The coastal cup is a fun/no points event between two clubs(at the moment), so why not in the essence of fun, and I have to agree with BoB, who doesn't want to go faster???
Another way this can be done, we can split TT into two classes, a "newbie drccc rules" class, and a "toppies/experienced/mods trccc rules" class, that way those who are not comfortable with more speed can ride in the newbie class and not feel threatened, and those that want to go a bit faster can ride in the toppies class, and don't come with a "put your TT in club stock then" answer, as we all already have clubstock chassis, we want to ride our TT's without having to spend dosh on tyres and bats or beg borrow or steal them, never mind getting pap borrowed 1800's, and the drccc guys that would like a bit more speed have surely got a 55 spur lying around somewhere and they all have lipo's, so the logic and facts tells you that it would be easier to bump up a notch than to go down a notch. But hey, as I said before, I'll race my TT if theirs a "toppies" class, if not the TT stays at home, no loss to me. And I'll bet you top dollar, there will be a few toppies dusting off their ol' TT's to join in the fun faster class!!
If you don't like my 2c worth, close your eyes!!!

Re: Notice Board
i think, like with all motorsport and most other events, the host venue's rules should stand. if we were going to you guys, we'd change our cars to suit your spec and likewise if we were going to a tamiya cup or any other national event.
doesnt really make sense for those of us who dont have, to have to borrow (or buy!) lipo's and chargers just to stay competitve at our own track.
i agree with brad, if theres enough of you who have the equipment or means to do it, start a new tt01 mod class. sure, if i had lipo's i might have sat on the other side of the fence on this one, but for the moment i know i speak for a good bunch of the new guys at DRCCC who are just looking to have fun and a good race!

Re: Notice Board
Point taken , but it's still a schlepp to borrow. There are however a good few of your TT guys that have the equipment to step it up a notch without having to lay out any dosh, hence my suggestion to split TT into 2 classes, besides as I also said, this is a fun event so why not spice it up, but hey, whateva, we gonna have a jol if we race TT's or not, it's just that we have them and would've liked to have used them, but no worries.
We still discussing this side as to what is the best suitable date for all of us to attend, so nothing definate as yet. Will keep you guys posted and we can take it from there.
