POSSIBLE SABRE CLASS

Post  Guest on Wed May 18, 2011 10:05 am

What are the chances?
I am looking to buy another car in the future, and i am unsure whether to buy a sabre or a clubstock.

Need some good advice with regards to where the club is going with its classes. Thanks

The committee started the anything goes class to see if there is a need to start a new class. By the success we achieved in this class it is clear that we went in the right direction. Now, we wait and see if we get enough cars to split the classes. The Sabre looks like a likely class to start in the near future. The F1 or RWD class is also a good possibility. I would personally like to see a buggy class as well. We dont want races with 2 or 3 cars in either so the split will come when the time is right and it is requested by the racers.
Hope that helps.

Hi Ray

If you guys start a sabre class, what are the chances you guys will stay in the mini class, keeping in mind that you guys already do other classes, and there are just so many minutes between heats to charge batteries. Like i said, i want to invest money in another car, therefore my choice will be based on the strength of the current mini class, and buy a clubstock, or sell mini and get a sabre, if there are enough serious people? This question may sound harsh, but it is not intended. I just want to make the right decision.
Thanks

Its a good question and legitimate. We currently have 4 Sabres and more coming soon I hope. Its a great class at nationals and hopefully it will grow at our club. You however have time on your side so give it some time and see if it gets bigger. In the meantime use your F1 till you can make the correct decision.

Thanks for the reply.

Can one change the sabre chasis to 4wd and compete in clubstock if you want to, and how much would that cost. Thinking for future, if i want to change classes.

it shares some bits and pieces with the Photon but it won't be cost effective to convert. Four wheel drive cars is always a safe bet because they will always be raced at DRCCC.

I had a look at the Sabre on-line and it really looks good! What would your start-up cost for this class be ie. car; battery required; motor allowed etc. Question

thats about right.
car - R2500
motor and speedo 13.5 - R1000
wheels - R220
body - for now you can use any body at drccc
radio equipment - 2.4ghz with servo and receiver R420
You can use any rubber tyre at club level but the control tyre is pretty good and long lasting.

Bang for your buck without a doubt and a season's racing will be cheaper than racing clubstock???
